As the 502nd continues to grow in both numbers and operational capability, we are proud to announce a structural expansion to support our long-term development: the introduction of Squads and Squad Leaders. Until now, our structure has operated as a single unified Platoon. While this has served us well, our evolving size demands a more scalable and personal leadership system. Effective immediately, all infantrymen will be assigned to a Squad, each overseen by a dedicated Squad Leader. This means the following:
Each Squad Leader will be responsible for the overall welfare and development of their squad (typically 8-12 members)
Squad Leaders are trusted, honorable, and proven members of the 502nd who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to the unit.
Squad Leaders will act as the first line of contact to their squad members for any questions, issues, or guidance.
Squad Leaders will be empowered to recommend promotions, awards, and badges to headquarters based on performance, progression, and conduct.
While this new structure streamlines communication and mentorship, we want to be absolutely clear: The 502nd still upholds an Open Door Policy. You are always welcome to contact any member of command directly with concerns or questions. You will never be reprimanded or judged for doing so. That said, if possible, we ask that day-to-day questions or small concerns be routed through your Squad Leader first, as they are best equipped to assist you quickly and effectively.
By assigning Squad Leaders, we ensure that every member has a personal point of contact, a mentor, and a leader invested in their development. This is about building stronger bonds, tighter units, and a more capable fighting force. Thank you for your ongoing dedication as we move into this next chapter!
